Navy/Airport Beach

The Navy or Airport Beach is a long beach which was once a US Navy facility and which is also by the Governor’s Harbour airport. It is miles long and the odds on seeing anyone are relatively low. Walking is best done at low tides when you can get near the water and the hard sand and the surf tends to be a bit rougher than some other Northside beach due to a lack of reefs. I don’t know for a fact but was told that the Navy blasted out the reefs in order to accommodate their vessels, which would explain the rougher surf at times.

It is a long beach that starts down around Knowles drive and ends just past the end of the airport’s runway to the north.
