This is just a little trivia video on cotton on Eleuthera, which can be found growing wild. I show how to deseed it and spin it as well as a bit of history. It’s one of those things you may see growing along the side of the road and you may wonder what it is. From what I have heard someone, at some point, brought cotton to Eleuthera in the hope of creating a product using “Eleuthera Cotton”. As far as I know that never went anywhere.
So in the video I show it growing wild, taking the seeds out and a little spinning of it as well as a history lesson on how Eli Whitney, the inventor of the cotton gin, changed the industry and to extent the whole world with his invention. So the next time you are driving around Eleuthera and you see those white fluffy things on the side of the road, you’ll be able to say- Hey that’s cotton!
