Hurricane Irma is still letting her presence be know for Eleuthera as the winds have shifted and the power is presently off. I don’t know when the power went other than sometime during the night and the winds have moved to a more southerly direction as Irma moves over near Cuba.
As you can see from the 5AM NHC report Irma is quite a ways from Eleuthera and we are still getting winds. This will continue for most of today before subsiding later. I’ll be out later to look around and see if there has been any erosion at the beach and hoping that power comes back before too long.
Overall I think it’s safe to say that Eleuthera has been certainly spared from the wrath of Irma and for that we are grateful. I do hope our friends and neighbors in Florida are taking this seriously and have evacuated and made their preparations as it seems Irma will be arriving on Sunday and she is big.
